How to Sow & Grow
When to Sow:
- Indoors: 6 weeks before the last frost
- Outdoors: Autumn (in mild climates) or spring after frost
Sowing Tips:
- For better germination, chill seeds in the freezer for 10–14 days before sowing.
- Sow on the surface of moist soil – do not cover deeply, as light aids germination.
- Maintain a temperature of around 20°C; germination takes 14–21 days.
- Transplant outdoors once seedlings are strong and the weather is cool.
- Prefers full sun and well-drained soil; tolerates light frost.
Care & Harvesting
- Pinching is not required.
- Cut stems when flowers are half to fully open.
- Harvest early in the day to prevent wilting.
- Immediately dip stem ends in boiling water for 7–10 seconds, then place in cool water.
- Vase life: 7–10 days.
- After flowering, allow some seed heads to mature for natural reseeding.
