Dracaena warneckii 'White Jewel' is an elegant and sophisticated houseplant, prized for its attractive foliage and striking white stripes. Its long, pointed, dark green leaves with white stripes down the center bring a fresh, bright touch to any interior. It's an ideal plant for adding a modern, refined dimension to your living or work space.

Origin: Native to tropical regions of Africa, Dracaena warneckii is a hardy and easy-to-maintain plant. The 'White Jewel' variety is particularly prized for its bright colors and decorative appearance.

Growth: Dracaena 'White Jewel' has a moderate growth habit, typically reaching a height of 60 to 120 cm indoors. Its slender, upright stems are topped with rosettes of spiraling leaves, forming a compact, well-balanced silhouette. Over time, this plant can branch out, creating a dense, attractive structure.

Flowers: Dracaena warneckii 'White Jewel' rarely flowers indoors. If it does produce flowers, they are usually small, white or cream, and appear in clusters, but they are not the main attraction of this plant, which is primarily grown for its foliage.

Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate low light conditions, but its colors will be most vibrant in moderate to strong light. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.

Watering: Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Dracaena 'White Jewel' is drought tolerant but prefers slightly moist soil. In winter, reduce watering frequency while maintaining some moisture in the soil.

Substrate: A well-draining substrate is essential for Dracaena 'White Jewel'. A houseplant potting mix with added perlite to improve drainage is recommended. Good drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.

Toxicity: Like most Dracaenas, 'White Jewel' is toxic to pets, especially cats and dogs, if ingested. It can cause symptoms such as vomiting, excessive salivation, and loss of appetite. Therefore, it is advisable to keep it out of reach of pets.

Guided tour through a difficult work
Format: Paperback
For the non-expert reader of Plato, this is a very good text for working through Timaeus. Actually, it may be useful to expert readers as well, but I wouldn't know about that, being firmly situated in the non-expert camp. Though some scholars may take exception to certain parts of Cornford's translation and interpretation, for those of us trying to get through it for the first time and on our own, this is still an exceptional guide. By the way, for an alternative translation and interpretation, the reader may want to check out Kalkavage's translation (Focus Philosophical Library), it is very good (I would rate it 5 stars also) and has some extremely helpful appendices for understanding references to music, astronomy, and geometry.
